I can't find any clear answers on getting the metra kit to match the rest of the console. Please help with instructions?

i didnt paint mine. mine matched the upper part of the dash pretty darn good. the center console(lower) was a little bit different color than the radio and the upper part so trying to match a color would have been imopossible any way. i tried to match at my local auto paints store, we sat there for over a hour but there is what seems to be a small metal flake in the finish that we could not make an exact copy of the color

when i matched my metra kit, i also sanded it (i used 400, then 1500, then 2000, but i think it would have been easier with the grits fsttyms1 recommeded. the paint i used was just flat black "vinyl and fabric" paint from walmart. matched perfectly. smoothness and texture. although i didnt do the best job sanding in one section. just let it cure properly or it will get all nicked up when you install it. and on the plus side i can pull the dash apart in about 10-15 minutes now.

fsttyms1,
Did you do anything special to get the headunit to sit flush? I have an alpine unit, and it sits in about 1/4 too deep.

Is it possible for someone who has the metra kit installed on there tl to measure the distance between the bottom of the stereo till it hits the area with the seat heaters?

I have a Audiovox Sirius sar radio and would love to be able to mount it under the radio. It seems from the pics above that there may be enough room to do that.

Thanks
