MDX Help

I know this is not the MDX forum but, there is a lot more activity here than the MDX forum. I am hoping someone can help.

I have a 2006 MDX Touring, non navi and I am replacing the factory radio with an Alpine IVA-W200. I wired everything to the new harness, plugged it in to the factory harness and I get no sound. It is not in the W200 as I tested the speaker leads and they are fine. There are 3 connectors that go to the factory radio and the new harness only connects to one of them. Everything works on the W200 just no sound thru the system. Any thoughts? Is it not just a simple swap with the newer factory radio? I can run new speaker wire but, really did not want to have to do it yet.

Do you have access to the pinouts for these three harnesses to know that you tapped back into the right wires? Sounds like you're trying to use some kind of metra harness, which did you use? Pictures of what you're trying to do?

Basically, a lot more info would be helpful.

Sorry, no pics. I am using a Best Kits wiring adapter. I also have a Scosche adapter with the same pinouts. There is not really anything to hook up incorrectly. Yellow, red, black, speaker wires(gray, white, green, violet). Just matched them up with the W200 wires and plugged it in. It has power, plays radio or DVD. Just no sound. I am thinking there is something downstream of the factory harness or one of the two harness no being used has something in it that needs to be used.

Instead of relying in a harness, get a service manual and check the wiring diagrams for the factory HU and amp. Are they seperate units? Check pinouts at all the harness locations and tap into the right wires yourself.

I may do that. I called a local shop today and they said that there is probably a factory amp down the line that will have to be bypassed. That does sound logical.

You do not need to bypass the BOSE amp. You do need to purchase a piece that will integrate your BOSE audio system with the new Alpine deck. Right now it sounds like your "AMP TURN ON" wire is not connected at the harness. If it was you would atleast hear very distorted sound. Be sure that the blue wire in your BEST KITS harness is connected to the blue wire with white stripe from the Alpine harness.

If you have any questions on the matter please contact me.

Alpine IVA-W200 harness + OEM-2 + Best Kits Harness (or Metra)

The OEM-2 has adjustable signal outputs. You will need a tiny screwdriver to adjust them. Do not connect those RCA outputs to anything. In fact... tape over the ends so that they don't touch anthing metal.

Thanks beyond words. That is exactly the way I thought it would work and the picture confirms it. I am in your debt.
