MBQuart RCE-269 vs. Genesis P69

has anyone here heard either one of these speakers, or preferably, heard them both?

i know el dude sells both, but i'm trying to get as many opinions on them as possible. I'm trying to pick one for 6x9 replacements in my TSX, and neither model is sold where I live, so demoing them in person isn't an option

(being given 75w rms)

oh, and I guess the Tang Band W69-1042 should be thrown in there too. I've read a lot of good things about it over at the elite car audio forums, and the caraudio.com forums.

and like the other two, there's no where to hear them locally

Be careful with those Tangs. The impedance is 8 ohms. So with a 75 wpc car amp. You'll only be feeding it 37.5 watts.

I've had the RCE 269 for several months and they sound great. They sounded so good that I took out my JL Audio 12" subwoofer from the trunk that I was using before. They are powered by an 80-watt amp.

that's certainly good to hear .. i'm trying to get as much feedback as i can since there seems to be so little

can you describe a bit more how they sound? do they sound musical and quick to change? do they go loud enough for you? what kind of music do you listen to, and is there any music you've found that they don't handle well?

The Tang is a knockoff of the old KEF, which is NOT a 6x9 car frame but is that general shape.

thanks for the info on the Tang .. i decided against it since it runs at 8 ohms and is out of stock until april

you did give me your opinion before, but then you dissapeared when I asked for a few more words of description ... then again I do have a tendency to be excessivly questiony

i decided to get the MBQ's, even though with shipping from ebay they cost as much as the Genesis

one last question el' dude, when you were listening to the Genesis 6x9's, did you have them hooked up to the JL 300/4, of the DLS that does 50w/channel ?

What kind of JL subwoofer did you have, and what kind of amp was pushing it?

It was a JL audio 12w0 powered by a class D MTX amp (can't remember which one, but about 150-200 wrms). It wasn't really that bad but I found the MB quarts 6x9 cleaner.

They were loud enough. It is rattling my rear deck right now which is kind of annoying. I listen to rock and jazz music. If you wanna drown the neighborhood with your bass, then these are the wrong speakers.

You should put some cascade VB Max sound dampening on your rear deck to help with the rattles.
