Hi all. I am looking for a Navi screen for a 99-03 TL and can't find one for less than 800 bucks, Used! I have a DVD controller and wiring but no screen. You have any luck finding one somewhere? Maybe a salvage yard with really good prices? I am eyeing an RL Navi system on Ebay which may be cheap enough but I don't know if I want to go that route since I already have the DVD unit and a couple DVD's to boot. I will probably make a bracket to attach the screen to my coin holder and make it detachable so as to avoid having to buy more components so the style does not matter, nor does it matter if it says Honda instead. Well I ended up winning an auction by some miracle for a 2000 Odyssey Navi system. I just ordered a new Navi antenna for my TL and in the mean time I will make a wiring harness. After looking at the wiring diagram, I think the only wires I need to tie into my car is B+, ACC, Ground and Vehicle speed sensor output. There is maybe 10 or so wires going between the screen and DVD controller so it looks pretty straight forward. I am getting excited. Well I'll keep you posted. Eric.

 

i have a cobbled-together nav system as well. just got it up and running a couple of weeks ago. at this point, all i have from the car is constant power, acc. power, ground and VSS....but i am going to add the reverse selector input and lights soon. the lights aren't a huge deal, but not knowing when reverse engages can screw it up a little bit. its not a huge error, but if you back up without telling the nav that you are, it thinks you are going forward and adjusts your position accordingly. eventually, it will correct itself.

 

I'm not sure if this will help but there was two hummer H2 headrest motitors for sale on ebay for about 500bucks.

Is there a difference between a Navi screen and a regular screen like a in dash or in headrest monitor? sorry for the ignorance on the subject

The Navi stuff should arrive this week and I ordered an antenna which should arrive too and I am working on a harness so hopefully this weekend I can install the system. Like I said, I will make a bracket to mount (removeable) the screen to my coin holder. I may mount it correctly later but I don't want to have to buy an A/C control head too. ResidualFreedom, the screens are different but thanks for the info. Eric.

 

Well my Navi system arrived today and it looks great. I rigged up a temporary harness and applied power, it works! A friend called and got the Navi code and the system works fine except for the lack of antenna, it should be here tomorrow. All is well for the bench test. I hope to get everything installed this weekend but we'll see if my wife authorizes that. Eric.
