Little space/ Lots of Clean Bass ? HELP
I have a 2001 CLS. Using Factory head with older PPI 100 X 4 amp. MB Quarts Fronts bi amp'd with Audio Controls 6XS. MB Quarts 6x9 rears. Using a Rock Fosgate 851 Power series amp heard it puts out anywhere from 850 to 950 watts, Birth Cert said 968 @ 14V's. Not 2 ohm stable so want to stay with 4ohm speaker's to amp bridged.
Question is : Because the truck is so small in the CLS and I have used the back wall. What is the best Booming Sub that would be in a small box, either sealed or ported that will rock but not take up alot of space. Know about the JL W7's but don't want to spend that much money. Want a good clean sub that will not just be bass will be clean. Was thinking about the Kicker 12" L7 but heard it was just loud but not clean to play music also.
I welcome any ideas with info, and type of box recomenndation, not sure if to go sealed or ported. Please keep in mind that I have to run at 4ohm's Thanks !

Yeehaw
I have an infinity kappa perfect 12vq in a sealed qlogic box. It hardly takes up any space and it sounds amazing. Very clean sound.
Magnesium Metal Matrix (M3D) cone
large-roll butyl rubber surround
Variable Q
massive cast-aluminum basket
3" voice coil
sealed box volume 0.4-1.25 cu. ft.
suitable for free-air use (handles up to 200 watts in free-air mode)
recommended power range 75-400 watts RMS
peak power handling 1,600 watts
frequency response 23-400 Hz
sensitivity 89 dB
top mount depth 7"
ported box volume 1.75-3.00 cu. ft.
Recommended Q-Logic Box Type: 1, 2, 3
3-year warranty
$280 at Crutchfield, probably cheaper elsewhere.
I can't say enough good things about this sub.
Oh and if you want to emphasize clean over booming... sealed box is the way to go.
