Line-out from BOSE stock head-unit?

Hi Guys.

I am in need of some of your expertise. My friend gave me his old sub (Pioneer sub and amp, well worn but still good). Can't beat free!

Anyway, I've been searching around, and everywhere I look, it seems like it is recommended that we use a LOC to hook up to the outputs of the stock BOSE amp. However, since the BOSE amp is, well, an amp, I am assuming what is coming out of the head-unit is line-level. Can't I just tap into the line-level outputs from the head-unit, and skip this whole LOC ordeal? Since I can't seem to find anything about doing this, there has to be a reason behind it...

Do you know why no one is tapping into the outputs from the head-unit to go straight into the sub amp?

Not sure what year CL you have but yes it's the same as what's in the DIY thread only not removing the stock amp. Just tap into the remote wire on the factory amp.

edit: Just realized factory headunit. Little slow today and thought you said Pioneer headunit. You can tab the loc into the factory amp it just has to be on the output side to a speaker.

I'd just like to thank AZ. Without you guys, I don't know how I would've installed the sub as quickly and as painless as I did.
