Kinda stupid question.
Kinda stupid question.
Ok just wondering what color should I paint kicker solobaric grill. I have 3 square grills one is a mix of silver, black, and blue. The second one is silver and black. Which I kinda just put in my room as weird art. ok now the third one is still all black and I want to paint the endcaps on my amp to the same color. THese are the colors I am debating about
Candy apple red. Wiht ****load of clearcoat
Blue.
Cameleon
or a metallic red.
Also I got blue neons in the trunk.
X2 I wil finally get pics soon as everything gets wrapped up.
Bozz hows your amp issue comin along.

Front/rear speaker amp is fine. RCAs are sh!t. New ones are on the way as we speak/type.
Your question is NOT stupid. The problem is that you're asking us to help you decide something that is all about YOU.
Dude, it's your system. It's your everything. I'll give you my 2 cents that you can, and should, take with a grain of salt. If you're building a show system, get funky. If you're building a system that sounds great to you and you don't give a sh!t what someone else thinks...then just stick with what you have.
Personally, I think the mix of the grill colors would look pretty cool. If you're not comfortable with that, sand 'em down and paint em. My preference for grills is all black. The less flashy, the less likely some a$$hole is going to try to snake them for his own ride. (I've had two systems "borrowed permanently" from me!!)
You can always ask for opinions on equipment and get plenty of good responses. Asking for opinions on the aesthetics of your system....sorry but it is your system. You have to do what feels right to you.
I can tell you from personal experience that once I finished my amp rack I wasn't happy with the way it looked. Once I get my new sub amp, I'm going to build a new amp rack. I looked at the original and I saw many places I could have done better. You'll see them at my website when I'm done.
I'm not too worried about whether or not it will make someone else happy. When I'm happy with it, then it's good. I'll either get good votes or bad ones. Neither will change my design. It's MY amp rack in MY car that I have to live with. Be as creative as your wallet will allow. I'm willing to take a beating if someone doesn't like my shiz.
Good luck and post some pics of whatever you decide to do!!!!

deciede on which amp to get yet. I use to have a USX2150 the 450x1 and 4065 is it the one wit 65x4 the only reason i got rid of them was casue of people saying there not real amps and get better ****. I am still using a USX in the rsx to power a single kicker comp 10 and it sounds find. No complaint yet. I just like the color of the grill a little bit for richer lookin like more gloss so i might try this. Sand the grill down just a lil bit so the paint will stick to it and apply like 10 layers of gloss.
SO whats your plan for the amp rack. I got my new components in and where should I mount the crossovers?

I like systek's idea. I think painting to match the outside of your car would look sweet. Either that is have everything chromed. I have even seen guys turn the Kicker sub's around and have the baskets painted or chromed. Just my .02.

I talked to the body shop and it will cost alot to just paont the grill, and my car is WDP. SO if I did it white it would really really stand out in the trunk so I got the Dupli-color Mirage Cameleon paint kit today and gonna start painting them right about
now.
now.
25 bucks down the drain and what the helll was I thinking. I painted the amps and grill and now look at them sitting in my room and it loooks so so damn ugly. THe paint work is perfect but the color, So now i got to remove paint from the amps and grill and probally damage the orignal color so I think I might just get a normal color like Black pearl and paint them. Next time I say a crazy idea someone slapme.

This way, the only thing visible on the "outside" will be the amps and the wires routed through the center cut which means there will be minimal visibility of the true wiring of the system. While the first one's functionality was great, I didn't like all of the visible wiring. Since wood is cheap, I may end up building a third one if I'm not happy with the second one. (Give's me an excuse to keep firing up my new router!)

As far as mounting your crossovers go, you really don't have much choice. Look at my page http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...=280779&page=4 and/or Iggy's page http://users.adelphia.net/~krisnlore...o/spkframe.htm
He discovered the "sweet spot" for crossover mounting. I just took advantage of the work he had previously done.
There is a perfect dent in the door for mounting crossovers. You'll have to discard a large piece of Acura plastic to do so (held in by two screws), but it won't matter for sh!t as far as the integrity of the door is concerned. (The piece is mounted to the door panel, not the actual door metal)
You mount the crossover and route the wires to it. Very easily done once you've got the wires run to the doors. Feel free to PM or email me if I can clarify anything for you.
I'm currently waiting for a PM response from systek (hint, hint
) on where to get reasonably priced box carpeting. That sh!t will kill your budget if you get it from the stereo shop. There are some things that you have to decide on your own when it comes to your setup. AcuraX2's ideas concerning chroming would look incredible, albeit very expensive.
If you want chrome, go with Audiobahn subs. They're damn near nothing but chrome!
I hope I've helped in some small way. Again, it's your system! Mine may not inspire you with the look of the install, but it will definitely inspire you with its output!!
Of course, I try to document each stage of my install on my page, so let me know if there is anything I can do to help you OR if you have any advice on how to make mine look better. (Not that I'll do it since it's MY system. BUT I do appreciate feedback)
Sorry for the LONG post.
