'99 CL, BOSE system, I am clueless
Hi all,
I just became a member, ie, 10 minutes ago. I have a '99 CL, I have the same problem as everyone else, I guess...NOT ENOUGH BASS! I can't tell you how many car audio places I have been that said I would have to rewire my car, is this basically what needs to be done? I am (unfurtunately) the type of girl who just has everything done for her, so I have no clue what that entails but it sounds scary. Wouldn't that nullify my warranty? If I decide to do it, do they replace the Bose system or just modify? I am clueless. Sorry if I am obnoxiously ignorant. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you just want a little boost in the low end, you may want to try an Infinity Basslink... wont rattle the car apart, but does add some nice, fairly powerful low end.
If you're thinking about replacing the whole stereo, theres a couple ways of doing it... to keep the warranty valid, new wires would have to be run from the new deck to the new speakers. Also, the factory wirring can be modified so additional wirring wont be needed, this requires cutting the plug off the car harness at the stock amp in the trunk... then mating the wires from the deck to the speaker wires. I think running new wires is easier, its a total pain in the ass messing with the amp wirring in the trunk.
If you were in NY, i'd be more than willing to help you out.
dont apologize for ignorance... if we all knew everything, there wouldnt be a purpose for a message board like this.

Thanks so much for the info! The Infinity Basslink sounds like all I need. Just something extra for cruisin the Strip or when I just get in the car and drive...and drive...and drive, I drove all the way to New York last November:-) Thanks again for taking the time!
