KeyFobs 1 works, the other doesnt

Both Keyfobs are original... Key Fob 1 recently stopped working. For a while the unlock button and trunk button continued to work but now they are done too. Key Fob 2 works perfectly fine. I would like to maintain two working KeyFobs. Do I need to get the the first reprogrammed or how do I fix it?

Where is the passenger's multiplex control unit that you are describing that I need to aim the fob at? Also, following these steps will reprogram the fob? I suspect that it lost the programming when I changed the battery.
