Keep the steering wheel controls

Hi, I was wondering if there was any way to keep the steering wheel controls if you have an aftermarket head unit. I am planning on installing my Pioneer DEH-P8500MP soon, but I would like to keep the steering wheel controls. Is there anyway and if so, how?

I was reffering to keeping the controls in the manner they are nowand how it isn't possible.

There is a backdoor way to do it depending on the headunit, by emitting an rf signal through a positioned remote. So in essence you are doing nothing more than turning your factory steering wheel controls into a stripped down remote control. Personally I would get ahold of Pioneer and see is it is possible to use the 9400 remote on the 8500, since you can mount the remote right the steering wheel.

i would strip down the new radio remote control to wire it to the stock one only if all other methods doesn't work. the acura/honda use different resistance on the same wire to control different functions, so making it work is not too hard. i personally think if you strap a pionner steering wheel remote on the stock wheel with factory radio control will look gay, even worse if you do installs too

Meh in all honesty it is a lose/lose situation. I have seen the 9400's remote mounted on a few steering wheels now and it's not as bad as I would have imagined. That being said I wouldn't do it my self. But if i had to choose between that or mounting the IR stuff i would probably take the pioneer remote.
