KDC-6025 in, time for speaker help
I just installed the Kenwood KDC-6025 into my 2003 Acura TL and wired everything up for Sirius. Now I am finding with my factory sub disabled and stock speakers the sound is quite pitiful.
I've been reading a ton of old post in regards to "drop-in" aftermarket speakers. I'm not too into cutting if I can get away with not cutting. I've been looking at the Polk db650, Image Dynamics CTX6, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is currently available and would fit the easiest into a 2003 TL?
Thanks!

My Focals fit with nearly no mods. They probably would have, but I didnt mind trimming a little to make it easier. We just dont have very much space in our doors, so you need a speaker that is rather shallow.
I have an 03 TLS and in the process of replacing my system now. I have the Infinity 60.5cs components for all four doors and a 10" Infinity sub (in a box). The basket and magnet on the mid's are much larger than the stock holes. I imagine any descent aftermarket speaker set will be this way even though the cone diameter is the same size. When I enlarged my holes I left the original plastic threaded part just incase I put the OEM stuff back in. You'll only need to cut about 1/4" around if you decide to go this route. My tweeters are installed near the top of the mid and just off to the side. You'll be suprised to know the open area behind the grill cloth (holes infront of the speaker on the door panel) is only about 90% of the cone area. No room for the tweeters sound to go threw. So, I had to drill holes in the panel without drilling through the grill cloth. If you go for components and want to know how I did it, I'd be happy to give a better description. Atleast the way I did it doesn't reveal the tweeter. It's pretty clean!
Good luck!
Good luck!
Just as long as they arent much deeper than 2.5 inches you will be fine. Another main reason to make a wood spacer vs. reusing the stock plastic one is to match up the screw holes with the new speaker.
Oooh, even better. The Polk db650's appear to be very similar to the previously recommended Polks, but with a higher efficiency, larger frequency range, and shorter height! And Crutchfield has a "buy 1 pair get 1 pair half-price" special:

I installed the Polk db650's in all 4 of my 2003's doors this morning. They sound really sharp! Keep in mind they're running off an aftermarket Kenwood and not the stock "Blose" stuff. The Bose speakers that came out of the doors are really pathetic. The Polk's fit with no modification and nothing special. I even picked up the speaker wiring harnesses at Best Buy last night for about $10 (Metra). All in all a huge improvement.
