Just got screwed...bad!!!

OK since I do post the most on Audio & Electronics, I have to vent. Yesterday on I-75 I got a $286 ticket. I was in Gainsville and was leaving Oaks Mall and was going back to Stoneridge aparments and I was speeding off the highway and the cop caught me at 110mph. So I was doing 40 mph over and was really lucky that I didnt end up in Jail. Ok just had to vent. What sucks even more is I am going to Ny Monday and will have to deduct the $286 from my savings.

Time to do one of two things,

1. Change your driving style or
2. Invest in a V-1, It will pay for itself over and over.

Good Luck !

Ouch...what's the speed limit there? 55, 65? Double the speed limit and you might lose your license for a time.

The ticket isn't the bad part...it's the insurance points.

Finally reality is hitting me. I am 19 and in debt. I was lucky that I just got a ticket. I am gonna take the driving class to get the points off. The officer said if I take the class within 90days I dont have to worry about my insurance. The fact that I cant tell my dad is killing me though.

hey man... down south in florida... they have these ticket clinics (100% legal). for $60 they will take care of it for you, but they will most likely send you mail.

Pick up a Passport 8500 detector from escortradar.com

Mine has saved my butt tons of times, and it was tested by 4 different car magazines as the best detector on the market. It even beat out the Valentine V-1 for K and Ka bands which is what 90% of cops use these days. I got mine last year and I can't tell you how much it has helped my driving record.

just something to look into since ur strapped for cash. either way u will be getting mail from law offices and stuff like that. like little flyers and stuff. with the ticket clinic... you get no points and it doesnt affect your insurance either. my bro has done it with them like 4 times already.

Me and my Dad where Upfront and sister bro and mom in the back, SO i was driving the Suburban and flowing with traffic and I got the lucky one to be pulled over. SO I got another speedding ticket. I was doing 82 in a 70. I got caught in South Carolina.

Damn, dnd...

I was just going to say that your biggest problem from the first ticket was going to be the fact that you can't afford to drive even a little fast anymore for fear of getting a second ticket that you CAN'T take off of your record with school, etc.

NOW, your Dad is going to ask you to just go to school to dismiss the roadtrip ticket, and how are you going to tell him that you CAN'T because of your 110mph local ticket???? OUCH! To be young again...

Like I've said before, one of the problems with the TLS is the inherent desire for sporty driving that no one can resist while behind the wheel.

Bummer! I haven't had a ticket in 20 years, and I got one over Christmas doing 90mph in a 70mph out on an open stretch of Interstate between San Diego and Tucson. I went to school to take it off the DMV, etc... But now I'm only driving 5mph above the speed limit on all road trips for the next 18months until I can be eligible for school again.

Sorry to hear you bad news... You should've let your dad do the driving or had a radar detector along with you. shoulda, coulda, woulda... I know that cruising at 80 is simply moving with the flow of traffic... so that one has to really be just pure bad luck! Sorry dude, I feel your DOUBLE pain!

You and me both... It sure sucks to keep moving over to the right lane for SUVs to pass. BUT it's all that you can do for now. Don't jeapardize your whole license by driving fast again, until your record is clear.

The time will go faster than you might think right now. Ahhhh to be 19 again, where time seems to drag...

hang in there!

I had similar problem when I was around 19. I was in college and got a roomate from Naples to buy me a radar detector. Well, that thing made me feel safe driving over the speed limit and I got two speeding tix in 2 weeks. One in Virginia and the other in South Carolina headed to the beach. Sucked! I threw that piece of crap radar detector in the garbage!

Luckily - knock on wood, I haven't gotten any more tickets since. Most of the time I set the cruise at 7 over (most highway patrols will ticket 8+) and only occasionally do I stomp the gas. Pick your places and know the spots they like to set up speed traps. SC is good at sneaking up on you and VA is notorious for setting up hidden traps in the median of highways.
