Jl W7

I have a JL W7, but the foam thing on the face of the sub ripped cause my brother dropped something on it...it still bumps and everything but that rip causes this sound that flaps about and stuff..is there any where to fix it? do you think if I sell it on ebay..anyone will buy it, if so, how much? thanks

Man, that's sad. Maybe you can get it re-coned? Not sure. Contact JL and see what they say.

actually you can get that reconed, and also u can remove that dustcap. If your dont care about the cosmetics of it just use black tape over the crack so the plastic dosnt rattle. I would actually contact JL audio and get it reconed. SInce its a 13w7 (by looks of size) shipping is going to be a btich.

JL has a service for those type of things. If it is a 12 it will cost $225 and a 13 is $305. Tell your brother to cough up some cash.

hmm..I thought it was going to be ...2-300 bucks...but..

Dear JL Customer
Sorry to hear about the need for repair of your 12W7 but we can help.
Any JL Audio dealer can help and will send in your 12W7 to us for servicing.
Use the JL Audio Dealer locator to find the closest dealer to you. It takes
about 6-8weeks , the repair calls for all subwoofer parts to be replaced
except for the magnet and the basket. The cost is $470.00.

Regards,

Ronald Funk

F that, I can get you a brand new sub that is better then that W7 for less than $470. Totally not worth it IMO.

Ofcourse a lot of it has to do with opinion. I think the a 15" Brahma or an RE XXX would kick the s hit out of the W7. Just based on the specs, ofcourse the W7 will sound awesome with less power but if you can feed 1200 watts or more into a Brahma or a XXX in a 4 cuft ported box, they would take it hands down, and if you want even louder you can always feed these subs 2000-3000 watts. These subs are monsters compared to the W7.

Here you go. Buy a new one for about the same price.

$470 sounds a little extreme to me. What about everyone else. You know they can replace the cone for next to nothing.
