jl audio 12w7 or 2 10w6v2????????
? for you jl guys. I blew my power hx2 rockfords, it's now time for an upgrade. I know you guys swear jl audio is the God for subs, so which setup would be the best in my truck. I called jl and they said 500/1 amp could power either setup. I talked to my local jl shop and they said i might want to go 1000/1 jl amp on either setup. I am lost right now. I currently have 2 rockford 750 mono amps that are on each of my power hx2 speakers. Should I just keep my rockford amps and plug them in each one of the w6v2 10s or should I go all out and buy all jl stuff. I can't decide the two jl 10w6v2s can fit in the box i already have. The 12w7 however, I am going to have to buy the H.O. wedge box already made. I am also looking for space. I use my trunk alot and I don't want to have to move my box when I go on long trips. Any advice will be helpful.
p.s. I don't want 1 10w7 so that's out the question, I heard them in my friends pathfinder and my setup now is louder than that. I want BASS! thanks!

My installer has 2 12W6v2s each powered by a 500/1 and his gains aren't even half way up and its hard to sit in. I'd get the 2 10w6s....2 10s vs 1 twelve....the 10s will move more air = louder. Although my 10W7 is as loud as 2 12s....so go figure.

You blew your Power HX2s with a Rockford 750 on each? Wow, are you sure it's a power HX2 and not a regular HX2? Were you running them sealed or ported?
In reference to your w6/w7...I think that the W7 would be louder if given the right amount of power.

12W7 is defenetelly better. First of all you save space, second of all it's much better technology. 500.1 would power it, but the ideal power for this sub is 1000.1. I did a lot of research on SUBs, and the W7 series JL subs really are the best. I am getting one myself.

JaySyn77 - Trust me they are Power hx2 10s. My profile is on sound domain with my setup. Anyway I was running them on a 1501bd mono amp and I blew the amp. My installer said go with two 750mono amps and not two 1050bd mono amps. Rockford amps are under rated and I was getting at least 800rms or more on a mono setup with the gain all the way up on each amp. However the speakers couldn't take the daily abuse of my setup and I am using a sealed enclosure with 1.5 or less cubic feet. My radio is also upgraded. I use alot of current and my remote bass switches are always turned up. I am a bass freak.

hey nicky - Is your 10w7 as loud or louder than that guy's 2 12w6v2????? Does he have 2 500/1 amps, 1 on each 12? Or does the one 500/1 run both speakers? I am looking for the cheapest and most cost effective setup. The two 10 w6v2s cost as much as a 1 12w7. Could the rockford 750 amps I have run the two 10s? Seems like I might have to invest in the 1000/1 amp but that thing is costly. I need my bass back

I have one 10w7 with a 500/1 amp. I was down at the audio shop over the weekend and they were holding a SPL/SQ conpetition. For fun, they measured the dB level. I hit a 134.xx dB. Everybody competing was hitting 138 dB or higher...highest was 165 in SPL.
Some guy was running three 12w7's in a dodge suv/truck...he only hit 142.xx.
