JL 500.1 is now installed!

I just set up my system and i am running 2- 12" Polk Audio Momo's with a JL Audio 500.1 amp....all i can say is amazing. It sounds so tight and good that its hard to believe that i still have the factory Bose speakers and head unit. I recommend that combination to anyone.

go to onlinecarstereo.com, the prices are cheap as hell and its fast turn around time. I paid $390 for it, and that is cheap compared to all the other places i looked around for it. At Tweeter it is $550 and a lot of other places it is $499. The amp has 100% warranty on it for a year and if something happens in that year, onlinecarstereo will send me out a new one while the other one is getting fixed. Pretty good deal

Thanks for the info. I think I could get it for a little cheaper (hopefully 325). If my buddy cannot hook me up, I guess I'll get from there.

CLSpowerNJ,

Are you still running the full frequency bandwidth signal (20 - 20,000 Hz) to the stock speakers? If yes then I am assuming that you just tapped into the stock wiring harness and your amplifier has a low-pass filter: is that correct. Did you perhaps look for any aftermarket wiring harness connectors/adaptors?

I would like to upgrade my stock system but I am still trying to decide what I want to do about it. Swapping out all of the stock stuff is probably a bigger project than I want based on other commitments (not much spare time).

Recently I stumbled across a Rockford Fosgate RFQ1201 electronic crossover that could be used to send a high-passed signal to the stock speakers and then a low-passed signal could be sent to a dedicated subwoofer.

I'm looking into AudioControl's 3xs. I think it has a few more features than the RF.

Nice subs. What type of box?

I will have to check out the AudioControl crossover.

I plan on using a sealed enclosure since I am really more interested in accuracy than thump. I will probably construct the enclosure myself since I have certain "wants & needs" and boxes are relatively inexpensive to build. I plan on using an overall system alignment of Qtc=0.707 which should be a good compromise between extended low-end flat response and transient response.

I am still searching for the "right" drivers though. "Right" includes many factors such as size, characteristics (Theile/Small paramaters) and price. I still need to finish up some design constraints such that I will have some good guidelines to help me choose a good driver (based on Theile/Small parameters).
