I don't have any experience with those particular amps, but I have a JBL 1200.1 (the Powervalve version, I think the predecessor to the first amp you posted). I have had this amp for two years and have run it hard, the thing is a tank...it has never overheated and has never skipped a beat.
Since I was so happy with the Powervalve 1200.1, I decided to replace a couple very old amps with a JBL PX600.2 (new model). Also very happy with this amp, but it does not run as cool. It is a large amp for its power output ratings, but it seems the heatsink design (large surface area is plexiglass, doesn't help with heat dissipation) is the culprit for the amp getting hotter than one would expect.
Please post your review if you decide to get the amp.

What are you planning on powering with it? Plus what kind of load are you looking to power your setup. Will it be at 4 ohms bridged, 2 ohms, 1 ohm etc etc.
I second optomos recommendations and I will throw in my personal favorites Arc Audio in there. Also check these out:

I'm not sure what you are looking for as far as the looks department, but I drooled the first time I saw a Tru Technology C-7 in person. It's like a gorilla in a tuxedo cause that amp is a monster, but looks so classy. I'm not too fond of the looks of the JBL in the original post.

JBL's are good amps. I had one, that I bought used from a friend, pounded like crazy, thought it was dead, cuz it got covered in condensation in my trunk. Hooked it back up like 6 months later, and it still pounds. Ended up selling it back to the kid that sold it to me, cuz it is a good ass amp. No complaints here.

For the money the jbl amp is about the best you can get. I have swaped more jl amps at work than any other brand, they are average at best. I know alot of people will disagree with me on this but I have been installing professionally for 5 years and have firsthand experience with both of these kinds of amps.
