Ipod integration 03 CL-S non-navi

Ok guys don't flame me for not searching I have found a few helpful things for this however they were a little old. I want to integrate the new 8gb Ipod Nano to the factory non-navi HU in my gf's 03 CL-S. The icelink diy install that is stickied is an older model that dension doesn't make anymore but they have an updated one on their website. I just want to make sure that this works with the new nano and the stock acura HU. Another question I had is what would I need to do if we decided to go to an aftermarket HU? I was thinking that I would have no use for the DICE and would have to buy a new interface that is brand-specific. I have considered an aux-out but I don't know much about manufacturers or where to buy them. Has anyone had positive experience using something other than the DICE interface? Thanks.

If you did search you should have came upon my posts......

Get the Blitzsafe Ipod adapter. Part #HON/M-Link1 DMX V.1 It's the only 1 that WILL work the 1st time. All the others are a crap shoot. I had them all & couldn't get them to work right or at all. Many CL members have had the same problems. The problems lies in the software of the factory HU. They are buggy & creates problems.

You won't have play list ability or track control from the HU but it will play clean, you get volume control & charges the ipod.
I've had mine in for some time now & it's fine.

Thanks for the clarification. I did see your posts but I was hoping to find something that would control the ipod with the steering wheel etc. What mount did you use? How is this one Panavise 75119-300?

I don't have any mount. The wire is in the console & the ipod sits in the cup holder. I take the ipod for 2 different cars as well as home & portable use. A mount for me would not be wise.

Yes, the blitzsafe interface works very well, even though it lacks the ability to control the ipod from the HU or the steering wheel controls. I ran the cable to the driver side seat and place the ipod inbetween the seat and the center console when it's not in use, perfect fit, and is not visible from the exterior of the car.

Sort of a similar question. I bought my 03 CL-S on Thursday the 28th. The next day, my iPod, Alpine HU, and iPod controller was stolen from my previous car ('00 Accord). Needless to say, I'm pretty spoiled by the Alpine's ability to control tracks. I bought a replacement iPod today and am looking for an interface.

So, has anyone tried the Neo iOn? I've read a few too many negative reports to bother with trying the DICE, but I haven't heard much about this model. Or do I have to settle for the limited features of the blitzsafe?

I tried it. I tried all of them. Didn't work for me. Actually, it did & then it didn't. It was a bit buggy. The tracks would change then it would stop working. The tracks did not sync either. Like track 2 on the ipod would read track 10 on the HU. It sometimes did not shut off too.
There was also a delay switching it to radio, CD, or ipod control. Like a full minute.
I was fed up with it & got the Blitzsafe.

Agree with all of that. I've tried them all. I have the same Blitzsafe piece as well.

do you have any pictures available of this installation and how it looks in your car? From all of the searching I'm sold on the blitzsafe model you suggested, however I'm uncertain as to storing it/using a mount and what approach I'll like best. any pics would be appreciated

Does it use the same Apple ipod connector? If so it should work fine. If not you can get the aux input version that has RCA's & then use a stereo mini cable. It won't charge though.

Checkout the Ice-Link adaptors on eBay. I just picked up a new one in the box for $45. Should be installing it sometime next week. I wasn't able to find them anywhere else online.

Search the posts. It doesn't work at all, or does but with lots of bugs on the 2nd gen CL & TL. I've used it, or tried to & it didn't work on my CL. Many people have the same results. Model I20-Honda-R2.

Hmmmm, that's no good. Guess I might have to look at re-flashing the thing with a new firmware.

You can flash stuff if your a programmer, know how to make hardware firmware, have an Apple developer account with access to info on iPod hardware attachment requirements, and the equipment to flash it.

Back in 04 the original icelink seemed to work. They stopped making it & switched to the icelink plus. That's the 1 that doesn't seem to work.

The problem is the Acura HU's. Some work with these adapters & some do not. Well most do not actually. Trying it is the only way to know for sure. I tried all of them & got tired of testing & retuning. So I got the blitzsafe.

So try it out I guess.
