Ipod for 06 TSX w/Navi
Ipod for 06 TSX w/Navi
I am sorry as I am sure this has already been posted somewhere, but I have been searching for some time and have had no luck finding it.
My question is; I have an 06 TSX w/Navi and would really like to add my iPod somehow. Is this possible?
I saw some posts where users are using the iSimple harness, but it says it will not work withthe Navi. Is there something else I should look for or am I out of luck?

Don't worry about the box saying that it's not compatible. Here's my story if you want to read it or not:
I recently went to Best Buy and bought the iSimple. I paid 50 bucks for them to install it for me and after 45 minutes they told me it wasn't compatible. So I got my money back for the installation but kept the iSimple unit. Researched online and found out that I needed to upgrade the firmware. Upgraded it and tackled the installed myself. Took me a maximum of 10 minutes to install. I can't believe I was about to pay Best Buy 50 bucks to do something as simple as unplug and plug. Imagine unplugging your laptop charger from an outlet, plug in an extension cord, and plug your laptop charger onto the extension cord. It was that simple.
End of story. Simply saying, Best Buy technician will say it's compatible, that's because the PXAMG (iSimple Media Gateway) isn't up to date on the firmware. The current firmware is .26 and can simply be found on Peripheral Electronics website along with simple instructions on how to update the firmware. I have a 2007 TSX with Navigation and it works fine for me. I would suggest getting Peripheral (iSimple) because it integrates very well with our car. It is the only product that I know that pauses when HFL is activated. It also shows text, artist/song name, on the navigation but I hardly ever use it because I'm always on map mode.
I suggest you buy iSimple through Best Buy, it's cheaper than through Peripheral's site itself. If possible, buy the open boxed one. I bought it for 130 open box instead of 150. If you need help just PM me and I'll try my best to help you out.

raisindot, if you dont mind waiting until the weekends i'll post up a diy in this thread with pictures. its really simple. if you aren't really good with computers, that's probably the only thing you need to worry about.
Were you able to get this posted, my iSimple is wrapped under the tree, but I am a bit nervous as to whether I will be able to do it myself...
@raisindot
I have a '05 TSX non-navi and I installed the Isimple interface.
I had a post back a couple of months ago but it has disappeared. (I don't know what happens to old posts).
Briefly,
Remove the storage bin (just below the climate controls and above the "not an ashstray" area). This bin can be removed by opening the door, inserting your hands into the storage area, pressing outward on the sides of the bin, and pull. Trust me it comes out.
You will have to either wrap the bin in a towel and set aside. Or remove the small wiring that is attached to it and then set the bin aside. I used the towel to prevent the bin from scratching things around the console.
Look in the opening and UP. There is a connector facing upwards in that opening that you have to unplug. There are small tabs that have to be depressed to remove it. Look at the connectors on the Isimple unit to get the idea how the connector locks work.
Once you have the connector removed, plug it into the mating connector on the Isimple. Take the other connector on the Isimple and plug into the place where you just removed the connector.
You are done. Turn on the car and check your installation by working the Isimple according to its instructions.
I found that the Isimple box can be hidden in an empty area to the left in the console which ends up being near your right knee while driving the car. There aren't a lot of places in the console area where this Isimple box can be placed -this is the only place I could find.

Isimple notes
sorry, I couldn't finish in my previous post -
I drilled a hole in the rear of the storage bin and routed the wires into the bin storage area. The Ipod can then be stored in there while still connected to the Isimple.
Two notes,
(1)The Ipod will continue to charge after the car has been turned off. I was told by Peripheral Electronics that this is normal. I unplug the Ipod when leaving the car parked for awhile.
(2)The Isimple will not charge new (late 2008) Ipods. New Ipods expect USB charging and the Isimple supplies Firewire charging. Other functions works just fine. See my post about Scosche Passport adapter that fixes this problem.
