Question interior neon lighting help

Does anyone know how to wire neon lights under the dash so when i open either the driver or passenger door they both come on?

Also does anyone know how to wire lights in the trunk so when i open them it comes on as well

I know there have been threads about this already, but it didnt give detailed descriptions of where to hook the wires and such

thanks to anyone who can help

That's relatively easy, how detailed of a description do you want?

Basicly, one way of doing it is to use a relay and tap off the existing wire that turns the light on and off. This would become your "signal" to turn the relay on and off(open and close).

Then you can power the neons with either an existing wire that always has power, or run a new lead right to the battery.

The idea would be the same for the doors and the trunk.

This help? need more info?

this helps a bit

but i was reading some other forums about installing lights, and someone suggested doing something like this

fuse (one of the doorlight fuses, wrapped around and put back into the fuse box under the dash)-------- "+" -------neon ------ "-" ------ "+"-------neon ------"-"-------ground (somewhere)

they suggested wrapping the power wire to a fuse in the fuse box and just running the neons in parallel. I wasnt sure because I didnt know if wrapping the power to the fuse would cause problems. would it blow the fuse? should I be putting a higher rating fuse in there to compensate? or would it just draw too much power and cause my other bulbs to blow?

but the forum also suggested wiring in an in-line fuse, about 5v, to be safe. would this help?

please let me know if this is what would happen.

thanks a lot

the way me and ortiz did it was.....

We wired the the neons to our head lights, if you keep your lights on all the time as i do, the neons will turn on when you open the door. If you wanna do this i can help ya with it.

The trunk lights are crazy easy... If you want full instructions email me or Instant message me at "Silver 2004 TSX"

This is just a basic rocker switch. all you do is run a + wire from the fuse box to the power prong on the switch. next you would run a - wire from the ground prong to any ground location you choose. for the 'acc' prong, youd have to splice the wire from your neons so that its - wire is seperate from the +. so you wire the + one to the prong, and then you ground the - wire... real simple, just think out how and where you wanna place the neons and ground location so you can do your best to hide the wiring...
hope the pic shows up...

note - if you wanted them to come on with the door lights, thought they would only come one with the door lights, would be to splice the wires from their connections to get their power... but i wouldnt recommend that... a switch is much easier.. also, make sure they have an inline fuse and that you use electrical tape so the wires dont touch, i just blew mine, thankfully i had an inline fuse though
