Installing PlayStation2

I heard that when installing a playstation 2 slim(only), I do no need to use a power converter. if this is true can someone tell me how to do it. I have a 2000TL. thankyou

It just takes 8.5v, you can get a step down from radio shack for cheap, or get a cig-lighter adapter (yes, they actually sell these - $15) and hard-wire it into your system. That's what I did, just ran a power line from the back of the cig lighter to under the glove box and put it in there.
