Installing Navigation system

Does anyone have any information on installing either an aftermarket or OEM navigation system in a 2001 CL-S that did not come originally with the navigation system? I was talking to one tech who stated that everything should already be setup (wiring and data) for the OEM navigational system from the factory, but I may need to have the navi. center console face plate. Is is simply plug and play or do you have to purchase a new CPU for the car? I would probably rather have an aftermarket due to all the complaints about not being able to update the OEM navi. I appreciate all help. Thanks!
