Question Installing a CD changer in a 01 TL

I've been reading Scott's instructions on the procedures for the install. They look fair lengthy and complex. Was this a difficult process? How long does it take? I have zero experience. Should I pay a dealer? He wants $160. Sounds high, but radio removal, shifter and center console, as well as sills, trim, cable run and box mount. DUH. Any other suggestions? or techniques that make the job easy? Thanks in advance. I read somewhere that Acuras already have the din connector installed. Was this in error? Also, would you mount changer in left side box tray or under trunk lid, next to DVD? Scott didn't cover that choice. TIA

install

I noticed that you live in FL.....If you have a Sound Advice near by go to them....They will be a lot less than a dealer and their work is 1000000000 times better. thats all the installer do there, is work on cars. I think its like 80 bucks/

I put in a CD changer in my Dad's 2000 TL. It was easy.

Check this out, http://www.autotoys.com/New_Tech/DIY...cd_changer.htm

I bought my changer kit from autotoys.com, $210 or so. It came with a Kenwood changer and the Acura->Kenwood box. The most difficulity I had was plugging in that converter box to the back of the radio without actually removing the radio. Rest of it was just running and hiding the cable going to the changer.

Unhappy No Converter adapter in dealer kit!!

Just opened the CD changer kit I bought from dealter for $72. No instructions or "silver adapter" that Scott refers to in his instructions. Sticker on out side of box says " instructions inside". Box and been opened by dealer and retaped. He is now quoting $212.50 labor to install changer.

I am suspecious that they "stole" both the instructions and the silver adapter plug from the factory kit, retaped it and sold it to me for retail, knowing that I could not complete the install and would come to them to complete the installation for over $200.

I am PISSED!!!

Need help! Does the CD Changer kit come with both instructions and the "silver adapter?

If so - I will raise HOLY HELL at the dealers parts window!!! Thnks

Raver,

If it is the Acura changer, you don't need an adapter. The adapter is for anyone using an aftermarket changer, i.e. Alpine, Kenwood.

The instructions aren't very good anyway. You should be able to get a copy from the dealer anyway
