installed USA-SPEC w/ nav

I just installed USA-Spec,

IT IS GREAT,

it only took me less than 10 min to install it,

1min to pull out compartment,
3min to make a hole on the corner of the compartment for the cable,
2min to connect the wires,
2min to "push" the compartment back in

TIME WELL SPENT!!

Good to hear! Can you post pics of the install process and the end product in action?

usa-spec being considered

The USA-Spec iPod interface is one of several interfaces I'm thinking of installing in both my 2K6 TL and 2K5 MDX. Did you encounter a problems with existing audio functionality (ie: did XM, DVD-A, or other built-in audio feature) stop working?

Having installed these into the TL like yours, I can state that there is no XM or DVD-A conflict. I know of NO other unit that this applies to.

I can't say definitively for the MDX, but it either won't work at all or it will be exactly the same.

A caveat, though. The TL installation is about 7.5 times more difficult than the TSX installation described above.

You have to remove the side trim on the center console, pull all the screws on the back half of the console bottom, pull the shifter surround, pull the console aft a couple of inches, and pull the bottom screws of the radio, to tip the radio out about 1".
THEN you can reach the plug on the back of the radio, facing up.

Literally in our shop I would estimate this as taking someone 1-1.5 hours if they've done it before. The TSX, I would put at 10 minutes.

I'm considering replacing my PIE aux input in my 04 TSX+navi with one of these USA SPEC thigns since they charge the ipod. The thing is the PIE has RCA outs which let me run RCA cables to the inside of my armrest which I like. Is the cable out from the USA SPEC unit well shielded?
So if I ran it along the center between the seats under the cupholder and into the armrest, will there be any noise issues? I get zero noise or ground loops with the PIE unit and I'd hate to get some with a new unit.

I also have zero noise issues on my usa spec, even tho I still have more noise than necessary on my stock aux input. It really is a solid unit. No need for GLIs or anything.

i just installed my USA Spec and tested it. Works great. Now the problem is having to put the compartment back in which I'm having trouble. Did you guys put the unit inside the cubby box or inside the ...car?

^^ It's up to you. I'm not sure if you set the dip switch to enable the USASpec AUX input, but if you did, you might want to mount it in the storage bin. You could also just run an RCA to it and put it behind the storage bin and out of sight. The choice is yours really, it just depends on how accessible you want the unit to be.

Yes, it will fit back there just fine. Pull out the pocket again, and take time to move all the wires aside and fit the usa spec unit as far back against the wall as possible. Then, make sure none of the wires are bunched up or too close to the sides to get caught in the track. If its all the way back there, the pocket will snap back into to its regular place.

Quick Question about this particular USA-SPEC!

Is this the model I am looking for? I have an 04 TSX non-navi.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/USA-S...spagenameZWDVW

Also are there any threads that show pics of where to plug it into and place under the HU? Ive done oodles of searching and still cant find it!

Thanks!
