Unhappy Installed switch blowing fuses

I'm installing the switch from honduh chicken's write up on the iPod integration done on his TSX found here: https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-tsx-2004-2008-124/so-its-2007-why-cant-car-company-figure-out-how-intigrate-ipod-i-did-674699/

The switch works perfectly except for when i plug something into the cigar lighter and turn the switch on i blow the fuse.

After the fuse is blown, i can still flip the switch and have it change the video.

This is the weird part, after the fuse has blown and something is still plugged in, when i flip my switch on and off it turns the item plugged into the lighter on and off while the navi vid remains unchanged.

The 12V and ground are spliced into the cigar lighter using a quick splice from radio shack.

What can I do to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

I would try a better ground, make sure it is getting a good contact.
