installed the 10w7 lastnight

and all i have to say is WOW . that thing is powerful for a little 10 inch sub. my amp isnt even turned up halfway and my whole car shakes. the dome light is moving back and forth, so i will predict that falling in a few months. my whole trunk/license plate frame rattle, dynamat will be needed.

my lights dim at night, so i will need another battery or better alternator. i just cant get over the results of this thing. was way more then i expected. its funny cause a few people at my work have 2 12's in their car and when they heard my w7, they almost shit their pants.

the outter ring on that thing vibrates like a motha even when the radio is turned down.

overall, i love it, a little too much for my taste, but ya know, its better to have too much, then not enough.

i definately recommend this sub to anyone that wants to be heard down the block and beyond.

I only see the sub and a 500/1 listed in your sig so I'm assuming the rest of your system is stock, does the sub overpower the rest of the stock system?

the sub def overpowers the stock headunit. i just have to turn down the amp alot.

im going 1 of 2 ways. either im getting that kenwood in dash monitor and leaving the bose stock, or im gonna replace the door speakers with the new infinity 6000cs's that i have and run an amp off those. i need more mids and highs from this sub, so i have to go one of those ways.

How much did your 10W7 cost? I am in the market for one for myself.

Thanks for the reply, I figured it would be overkill for the stock system. I almost got the same setup and had planned to upgrade the stock amp and speakers later on, but just went with a 250/1 and 12W3v2 and am going to leave everything else stock. Much less bass I'm sure, but enough to hold me over until my car reaches 100K miles. This setup is well-balanced for me now and I don't really have to worry about Dynamat or the trunk rattling much since I faced the sub forward firing through the pass-through.

I definitely want to hear the 10W7 with a 500/1 though, perhaps for my next car. You hear nothing but great things about that setup.

i can attest to all the great things i have heard. the bass is clear, the highs, mids, and low bass all sound really great.

i just hope our rear view mirrors are on firmly, cause i dont wanna have to re glue it or however its stuck on there from the factory.

Hmm that's the last step for my system. I was thinking of getting a 10W6V2 instead thinking the W7 might be too much.

WEll I am guessing your box is seald...if so there is not to much to mess with. Just the Freq. setting...leave it 12 slope...the gains...and leave the low pass on. I forget what else is on the side of it...ill look it up and see if there is anything else. Most of the knobs are a sub sonic filter if you have a ported box I believe.

I had a 1st gen before this one and had 2 10w3's (last version) on a punch 800.2 I think. They were a little over powered but they slammed. I thought about getting 2 12w3 and keeping the 500/1 I had...but then decided on a Resonate Engineering XXX 12 and that one sub needs about 1500w going to it...so I had to get a new amp

Ok going from left to right you have the preamp output section. that is so you can run the signal from the HU to the 500/1 (that goes to the input on the right side) and then to your next amp thus making the rca shorter and cheaper. You can then select if you want to use the built in crossover on the JL amp or the one on your next amp. If you want to use the JL one thats what is next to the preamp output...Low Pass High Pass, slope, and the freq range. All that next stuff is the infrasonic filter that is used for ported boxes. And the Q and stuff im not to sure...I think for ported as well...I never used them...nor the bass boost. The phone jack is for the remote bass knob if you want to adjust from your seat. Next is your normal amp crossover and gain setting. Did this help

I will be installing my 13W7 in my 01 Cl on Tues or Wed. I cant wait to hear what it sounds like I will be pushing it with my 1000 watt Xtant amp. I will let you guys know if it hits or not, but Im not sure on how much dynamat to use and if I should use a sealed or ported box?
