Okay...I've had the DQL-8 for a while now. Time for an update.
I highly recommend the DQL for anyone wishing to integrate their factory HU. The improvement in SQ is off the charts. The tuning capacity of this device is amazing...simply amazing! Audiocontrol hit a grand slam with this thing.
The only complaint is that you must manually switch the remote from SubWfr to MstVol when using the auxiliary source...it gets old and will cause you to not use the auxiliary source as much as you might like. Don't even think about not purchasing the DDC. It is a must have.
It takes a while to learn the controls...this thing is like having a trunk full of EQ's. I owned an EQL back in the day...it is laughable to try and compare the two.
I had the DQL professionally installed. There has been absolutely no noise introduced into the system. The product has performed flawlessly so far, and with a five year manufactures warranty, I have no fears of it malfunctioning.
I called Audiocontrol a couple of weeks ago to ask a few questions. My call was immediately answered by a tech and all questions were answered in detail. I actually had a nice conversation with the tech about my entire system, not just the DQL. Their level of customer service is a breath of fresh air in a world where most customer service calls are routed to Sri Lanka and answered by someone who can barely speak english that reads from an online manual.
I played around today with an USACi judging CD and was very impressed with the results. I'm kidding myself though if I think I am qualified to tune the car. I have located a former IASCA World Champion that lives here locally and will have him tune the car.
I've been looking hard at the Hybrid Audio Technologies component sets and may replace the MSQ's with them soon. The Pioneer PRS' are very nice also.
Oh yeah...thanks to the DQL, my system now gives me goose bumps again. It's that good.

Hey man... Nice system. I'm going to install something almost the same. I have me a couple of 15-msyn6.5 too. Both memphis component I had on my last car. I have both a PDX-4.100 and PDX-1.1000 too. I'm going to install a couple of digital design DD500 12" subs. I had 4 of them installed with a Memphis Mojo once and they rocked. But now i'm going more down scale. I just have a curiosity, I tried to install the component on the doors and couldn't fit them with a 3/4" spacer. Did u have to cut the door panel to enter the 1/4" that's left of the speaker, or what did u do? thnxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Installed the Alpine SPX-17PRO component set up front. So far I'm loving them. The tweeter is so smooth. The woofer is very nice and performs a lot better than the previous Memphis woofers. The freaking crossovers look like small amps...extremely well built and obviously made to last. It took a while to tune but it was well worth it. I can not stress enough how much I like this tweeter...they gave me goose bumps when I first listened to them installed.
Update of system
Stock HU
Alpine SPX-17PRO Components up front
Memphis 6.5 coaxial in rear doors (soon to be replaced by the Alpine SPX REF set)
Alpine Type R 12" sub (Thought about replacing but it sounds so nice now that I installed the DQL-8)
Alpine PDX 400.4
Alpine PDX 600.1
Audiocontrol DQL-8 EQ/DSP (Running Ipod off auxiliary input)
Audiocontrol DDC (Digital Dash Controller)
Dynamat - Entire car

I paid $1200 which included instillation by a licensed Audiocontrol dealer. You lose three years on the warranty if you have it installed by non-licensed installer or if you do it yourself.
4 years to 1 year trade off which is still very respectable considering the market norms.
Cost of the unit itself was about $600 including the digital controller.
