Information on installing double din

Hey guys,

I am looking for a double din for the car, but am unsure where to start.

With that being said, I have a couple questions:

What size screen is ideal for the 2G TL?
Will any aftermarket double din fit, or are there different cables and whatnot? If so, what should I look for?

What are some double dins you guys recommend when on a budget?

I'm just looking to spice up the car a bit; going to pass on the car to my sister in about a year or so, so not looking for anything too expensive.

Thanks for the help!!

I just finished installing a Kenwood DDX470 double din on my 2000 TL. I used a Metra 70-1702 wiring kit, American International ACURA ACU-K862 (double din adapter kit), and Axxess Metra ASWC-1 Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface. Wiring was pretty easy and I was able to use a different post on this forum to retain the factory subwoofer.

I also added a 7" Galaxy Tablet 2 to my setup for nav, internet, etc.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Would a 6.1" screen fit the American International ACURA ACU-K862 adapter?

I'm looking at a simple JVC one on Amazon for around $230.

As long as it's a double din, you are good to go.

Personally, I like the cleaner look of the DDX790 and other similar units (DNX890HD for example). No knobs sticking out, just a nice big 7" instead of 6.1" display, and a motorized tilt screen. You can usually find it for only $100 more.
