Infinity Kappa vs. Alpine Type-R vs. JL?

What is your opinion on all of these. I have 2 12" infinity kappas with 1200 watt class D amp. I was thinking of selling, and maybe get Alpine or JL.

I would definately go with tha alpine typeR, that is one bad ass hard hittin sub...I used to have two ZR12's (alpine) and that was one of the best systems I have ever owned...That got stolen but a year later they came out with the type s and r subs...I currently own the S, but the R my friend has 2 and they are phat as hell...If quality bass and clarity are two buying factors then the alpine would hold its own on that...Shyne

Uhmm...the Alpine's aren't even on the same level as the Inifinity's or the JL's. Ya know if you want to spend some cash I just found the new JL 12 w7s....and I'm getting a group together to buy some. If you're reading this on 11/7 or on it's too late. However I will hit 170dB with 2 of these in my car. Just a thought. Otherwise I'd go with 2 JL 12 w6's. I have two for sale actually, new.

Not knocking you Shyne I like Alpine and Kenwood...and JL and Infinity...my four favorites. But you can't compare Alpine to JL or Inifinity...

If you're looking for SPL, JLs will give you that. So will just about any sub.

If you want SQ and SPL, Adire Shivas or Tempests and CDT Audio are so clean and tight, it makes JL sound like someone poured oatmeal in your sub box.

NSXNEXT...you must be kidding!!! Granted, those are good subs...but the sheer Xmax in the w7's will blow the Shivas and Tempests out of the water. I mean there's absolutely no comparison That's why the JL team took 5 first places at the 01 IASCAs....that should tell you something. As for SQ...heh...I'll fly you over here after I install the w7's. The more power you add to a sub the better the SPL, but the distortion of the sound drops of linearly on most subs. There is no dropoff on the w7's.

Also...saying that just about any sub will give you SPL is a gross overstatement I'm sure you know that.

Again, I say go with JL w6's or if your pocketbook can handle it the w7's. One of the best SQ woofers out there are the Infinity Kappa Perfects.
