Ideas for system
I was looking for some guidance on upgrading from the stock system in my 2000 TL.
I listen to rock, like to hear the details in the music, dont need to have a ton of booming bass.
My budget is 800-1000 range for parts, as i will attempt to install.
I have looked at alot of stuff on crutchfield to try and get an idea of what fits but it seems in terms of speakers there are not alot of options, however i know this isnt necessarily true. Thanks for the help.

Welcome
Well, you have already told us you budget as well as the type of music you are listening to. Do you want something close to audiophile grade, or are we just lookin' for something a bit better than stock? If you are going for the former, you may want to increase your budget. If you are going for the latter, you might be able to get most of your system in. I have a feeling, you may want to replace your headunit. Does your CD player, like mine, have issues reading burned CD-Rs?

Yes, I have trouble with the burned CD's. I was looking into replacing the entire system.
I was gonna go for a midrange pioneer head unit DEH-4700MP and i was considering
5 1/4 Polk Components for the front, Polk DB5250. No clue on amps or subs, but like i said i think a single 10" would suffice. Dont know if i really need rear speakers or not, but if i do i would think just for fill, nothing fancy.

I would look into maybe an Alpine Headunit, also screw the rear speakers and try to find some better front ones. I think a single 10 would be good for you as well, in a sealed box. As far as amps are concerned, mabye you can get a 4 channel and bridge 2 channels for the sub, or maybe a DLS 3-channel amp. Eldude, wanna help me out here?
You can swing DLS parts for $1000 easy - just that you won't get the best ones, but their less expensive stuff is better than most other companies good stuff.
Head unit $250
Amp $250
Sub & box $175
Components $325
