I-VES Expert needed (Elduderino?)

I am thinking about getting a Blitzsafe adapter but I have the Honda I-VES. I didn't install it and I have no idea if it has RCA Audio / Video outputs. Does anyone know if the I-VES has these outputs needed for the adapter or if not, am I screwed?

Thanks.

I looked at the install intructions on handaaccessories.com. (I have not seen an i-VES).

There are no RCA's. OEM's don't like RCA's, they usually spec something that is better at locking. However, the pics are VERY reminiscent of the Alpine FMM and Ai-NET cable of the XM tuner, so I think there is a very high likelihood that the i-VES is made by Alpine. Alpine has moved into this area strongly with OEs. If it IS an Alpine with the Ai-NET cable, you can buy an adapter to RCA for $15 on eBay.

If it's not, the wiring info is still in the service manual and a good installer can tap the wires and add RCAs just like we do when interfacing the radio to an aftermarket amp. But I'd go the adapter route first.

Anyone with an i-VES knew what an Alpine Ai-NET cable looks like?

Thanks for the info. I am going to call an installer soon, but want to see what my options are first. Right now the I-VES is FM modulated, so I assume they will need to disconnect that piece as well.

Yeah, a cable plugs in between the FMM and the i-VES, and it looks the same as the XM tuner - unplug the FMM antenna plug, unplug the cable, plug in an andaoter or mod the cable, and go.

Just out of curiousity, what's the preference with your kid between headphones and the audio system? (And does your i-VES disc player play MP3?)

Thanks.

My son is 18 months old so I don't think he will be ready for the headphones for a few years which means I am stuck listening to Elmo when he is on board and the the headphones are just sitting in the trunk.

The I-VES does play MP3's burned to a CD, which is the real reason why I want to have the player plugged into the Aux imput. The sound from the FMM is fine for Elmo and Barney, but the MP3's dont sound so great. If money permits (meaning if my wife wants to get me a bigger Christmas gift), I will also think about getting the adapter that lets you watch the DVD on the Nav screen. Not because I want to watch movies, but when you are playing MP3's on the I-VES, the screen dispays the MP3 tag info on a GUI, which is cool I think.

Thanks.

Mount some speakers to the sides of his baby seat! I bet you could do a really nice job and put a headphone jack on the side.

And when we are outside, I can take the baby seat with me (with him in it) and put it on my shoulder and listen to it like a ghetto boom box
