How to wire the sub(s)

So if the stock unit has RCA outs... I'm thinking it probably wouldnt be too bad if I used RCA Y adapters on the rear CH and ran the RCA's directly back to the amp VS using high level output converters on the 6x9's...

Thoughts, comments?

I am "almost" positive that the stock head unit DOES NOT have RCA outs.

Ahh... here is where ASSuming gets you in trouble.. I ASSumed that since the ampllifer was external there were RCA's

So.. let me re-phrase my question..

Would you A> splice into and convert to RCA the line output of the HU or B> just use a line level converter on the 6X9's

Furthermore.. is the HU outputting four channels or is it just stereo line out and then the amp controls the fader/bal?

Yes, the HU is outputting four channels.

The stock HU has 4 channels of RCA level signals going to the amp but through one of those oh so convenient light blue wiring harnesses which you will have to cut off and splice into the cut off end of an RCA cable to run to your amps if you want RCA connections - that's what I did but for all the speakers. If you're just gonna want bass from the 6X9's, then just use a LOC on their wires in the trunk- there is a crossover in the stock amp so no high signals are gonna get to your new speakers with LOC though. That's why I went through the trouble of splicing RCA cables - I can add full range speakers or do pretty much anything I want now.

whats the exact prodcut number of that part? also, would i need one soo sphisticated as that? one of these LOC's are needed to connect the amp directly to the HU right?? i just wanna get everything before i try to install it, dont wanna have to make a trip to radio shack in the middle of an install... also, what kind of amp kit should i get for a 1000Watt sub with a 900W amp?

EDIT: the link was off, cause theres a "." after the "htm", but im still confused as to which LOC you got?? N-7785V? M-9192V? N-684V?

I got the N-774V which is a 4 channel, my amp is 4 channel. It depends on which amp you got and how you are going to use it. As for amp kit just get an 8 gauge or 4 gauge one. You can purchase it here http://www.knukonceptz.com/ They sell good stuff at reasonable choice and have premade amp kits avaliable.

thanx tuan209. i thought that an LOC was just like a premade spliced wire kinda thing with the RCA or whatever kinda connections, or are there ones like that that are just simple wires. i heard that an LOC wouldnt cost more than like 8 dollars, but i may be mistaken. what would i be looking for for a mono amp?

im not sure what my amp has. i ordered it off Ebay on saturday and stil havent gotten it. im hoping maybe ill get it tomorrow or friday so i can start to build my amp "rack". and the sub i ordered was off back order so i cancelled that and just ordered one off Ebay today. cant wait to see how my enclosure will turn out. how do you plan to make the part that holds the sub itself? with the MDF rings suspended by wooden rods, or an entire piece of MDF with the circle already cut out... not sure which would be harder to do or which will rattle..

The 6x9s in the back have a low pass filter. Which means that you only get the lows/bass through those speakers. The only high pass filter is for the tweeders in the dash.
