How to take apart the dash.
Anyone in the Bayarea ready to take apart their dash and would like some help do so. I'm volunteering my time in order to learn to do it correctly.
Please send me an email if you need help or if you have the time to email the steps.
Appreciate it! mailto:siriusfr33@yahoo.com

Me too...
I'd like to know the step by step procedures as well. I am thinking about bypassing the stock EQ unit. I have a Head unit WITHOUT Navi. Does this make it easier to get behind the unit and find the connector and/or equalizer unit?
How does one go about taking the middle console apart? To get to the back of the Head unit do you need to take apart the console all the way back to the armrest/storage box? Or do you just need to take apart the vertical sides from the ashtray on up? In any case, where do you start and what keeps things together. I don't want to just start prying on things and break plastic clips etc. People were very helpful in describing the techniques involved with removing the door panels to get to the speakers, and the glove box to get to the micron filters.
Of course it always takes the person doing it his own time to proceed and do things right in his own way. I always find after its been done once, you can always do it the second time in a fraction of the time. But, No matter what the directions, there are always some hidden or forgotten steps involved, etc.
But if anybody can take the time to post some detailed steps of what's involved to get the console apart to the point of getting behind the Head unit and locating the Equalizer... I would be very grateful! I'm sure I'm not alone... Thanks for any help to get me started!

Removing your dash is simple if you have strong arm.
I removed mine to do the superwhite LEDs project (http://www.thewebworks.com/nuke/modu...bum.php&page=1)
I am still driving my car without the dash. Here what need to do:
This is based on 2002 3.2TL without navigation system.
1. You need a very short phillip screwdriver
2. Look up under your dash (or above the steering column) you will see two screws holding it. Remove them. These are the only screws that holding it.
3. Lower the steering wheel all the way down.
Try to get your fingers between the dash gap and gentlely pull the dash out slowly. You will likely break some hooks that snap the dash in place but that is OK.
4. Once you have the dash lose you have to get your hands behind the dash to disconnect all the AC, clcok, TCS/CRUISE, FOGLIGHT, SUN/MOONROOF, and RESET/SELECT electrical cables.
5. Gentlely pull the dash out. You will have a little hard time getting it out because there is not much clearance between the steering column and the top dash but keep wiggling and pulling and it will eventually come lose.
Good luch.
