The CD player in my '02 TL with Navi started displaying the ER-E1 message suddenly a few days ago, as has apparently happened to a lot of others on this forum. I've been hunting down different ways to get it fixed. Contacted the local Acura service department, and the rep there actually told me of a non-Acura repairman who fixes Acura audio systems and can replace or repair mine for a lot less money than they could. I called him. Yes, he can do it for a lot less money. But he said that I should first try to 'reset the CD player' as that may fix it. He said that the sequence of steps is tricky, too tricky to try to explain over the phone. I'm an electrical engineer, and understood it to be something considerably more in-depth than power cycling and re-entering the security code. He said that he thought that I should be able to find the sequence of steps on-line somewhere. I've searched, including this forum, but haven't been able to come across it. Does anyone know of such a way to reset the CD player? Being an electrical engineer, I have a good understanding of general repair, especially electronics. I had the feeling that this guy knew what he was talking about and was genuinely trying to help me.
