How to remove rear shelf?

I have my seats out, and I want to take off the plastic piece on the rear shelf that sits in front of the seat belt reels. The Helm's manual picture is useless to me, it seems there is a row of hidden clips? But I don't like just yanking on it to see if they'll come out.

yes... I'm trying to find a proper place to install my harnesses and they are supposed to be bolted to the factory selt belt mounting points. one of which is underneath the plastic.

looks like I'm going to give up on my delusions of gradeur. I was planning to install 2 Schroth Autocontrol 3pt Harnesses, and have them already, but they just wont fit w/o some crazy modifications. The problem is the rear seat belt reels are recessed into the rear shelf. There's no way to access the bolts easily as they're either under the speaker or behind the seat. Looked so easy on the Evo and STi installs I saw. I will probably just be going for some regular Schroth 3pt harnesses now, no fun wiring though :'(

Your not using them for street driving, right? You're using them for autocross or show?

Usually in the STi(probably the Evo,too) you put the harness bar behind the front seats to keep the belts at the correct angle off the shoulders, so as not to crush your spine when you smash into something...

my intention was install harnesses that did not affect the usability of the rear seats, a bar would definately do that. the autocontrol in the pinnacle of my desire, but sadly will not fit.
