Question How Much Power Wire

In our 2nd Gen TL's

I'm replacing the factory stereo...

Should I just buy a 2 amp kit and be done with it?

Or what length of power wire, speaker wire, ground wire should I get?

Will this work

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=5769406148

or this

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/searc...&Continue=Find

Go with the stinger, or something similar, the walmart kit is pretty shitty. I bought like 3 of those scoshe sets, and don't use any of the parts from them now. I have redone my power so many times. I would get the stinger, rockford fosgate, or lightning audio. Stay away from the walmart specials. That stinger set looks good. How many watts you trying to push, and one amp or 2?

That stinger is a good 2 amp kit, it has the distribution block for the 2 8-gauges, you should be set.

the amp kit i got... the power wire was a bit short (just reached my trunk, by a foot, and the engine bay is pretty damn tight)... and i think it came with 20'
so i think like 25' would be good, you can always cut it.

Question

I'm running 2 amps and I will mount them upside down under the rear deck just like the NAVI system.

One amp is 300 watts and the other is 421 to my subs.

Check this kit out and tell me what you think... This guy wants to sell it to me shipped for $55

http://www.lightningaudio.com/2004/p...asp?prodID=389

I just want to make sure that the wires are long enough... Mike said his was too short and that I should get 25 feet!?... Did everyone have this problem? and if not, is this kit good to go even w my two amps.

Going from left to right... NAVI, Amp 1, Maybe Cap, Amp 2... all on the rear deck in the trunk.

You should have more than 17/18 feet of power wire. If you want a cap then get this kit: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW

It also has 22 feet of power wire. If you want to save $ you could go to any place that sells welding supplies and buy power cable cheap.

Now that's what I call a kit !

I think it's too much for my system though... my system is only running at 700 watts total... and if I use a cap it will be between the fused block and the amp to the subs right?

I saw the power wire at Home Depot... Is that 4 guage okay to use for this application? Is it insulated enough or is there any difference?

Caution while buying that kit!!!!

I bought that for a friend of mine, and let me tell you, it might be 4-Gauge but it as WAY less strands of wire than the regular Stinger HPM 4-Gauge wire. So becarefull and just get the regular kit IMO.

or this one

Let me know which one you like or what you think

I hear that I'll have to still get diff RCA's with both of these cause the one's in the RF kit suck.

Hi. You should NEVER mount an amp upside down, unless the manufacturer specifically states that it's okay. (Allows the heat to buildup inside the amp).

Commonly known as the lawnmower Blenny... He's cool... These type of fish use their lower jaws like shovels and then the sand comes out through their gills all day... It's fun to watch and it sifts the sand around for the good bacteria to flourish in the sand... the live sand

you could build an amp rack and have it mounted vertically agains the back seat.

I want to just use up the small back part of my trunk... and I was just going to put everything next to my Navi... cause it's taking up the space anyways... I need some kind of a rear deck bracket like the one the Navi rests on... then I'll be set

You can also use Tsunami, JL, or Streetwires kits to. Between the 2 you choose I would go with stinger.

I like to build a shelf that hangs down from the rear deck (package shelf). It's a chore, but not too bad. Cope a couple 2x6's to fit, then drill three holes through each and through the shelf (with everything removed from the top of it of course). Then use 1/4" bolts from Home Depot, and construction adhesive like Liquid Nails to keep the thing from ever squeaking or vibrating). Once you have those two boards mounted, you can screw a piece of plywood to the bottom of those, forming a shelf for the amps.

Here's mine. It aint pretty, but it works and it does not make a sound.

Holy crap.. what did you do? looks like a science fair project, but I like the functionality. I'm like you ... who cares if you don't go to competition and all that...

I would paint those though like grey or something.

i had 20' of power wire in my kit...

heres my engine bay..

'
no slack at all... and it JUST made it to the ski hole of my trunk....
either i installed it wrong... or it can use an extra feet or 4... better to buy more than less? since you can always shorten it..
