How to get form-fitting sub enclosure in trunk?

What's the best way to cut the boards on the amp rack or enclosure to make them mesh perfectly with the contoured sides of our trunk?

I'm anal and want it to mesh up PERFECTLY. My experiences with this in the past have been through trial and error with a piece of cardboard, but this has never produced the professional results I'm looking for.

Any suggestions?

(thanks SlyTLS for the perfect example!)

Cardboard template, and use a pencil on a stick to trace the edges of the trunk onto it

after u make the wood template as close to the panels as possible, tape them off around where the wood meets up and use body filler to fill in the rest of the gap
