How do I install a sub & amp?

Facts:

1.) 2006 TSX NAVI Headunit

2.) I do NOT want to use the 6x9 signal feed AFTER the amp because this signal is not FLAT. This post amp signal is EQ'd with bass boost and rolls off at the low end from what I have read. I will not use a LOC after the AMP because this signal is not FLAT.

3.) I have a JL Audio amp with differential balanced inputs

Is there an output on the stock HU that plugs directly in to the JL Audio amp's differential balanced inputs?

What else needs to be done?

I have read SO many threads on this topic over the years and I still don't know how to do this cleanly.

Thanks
Aamir

first off TBH there isnt any other wa to hook your sub up without converting stock wires to pre-outs however there are many equalization boxes that you can tune so its not just a 45 or 50 hz boost i=when in doubt buy an aftermarket h/u hope this helped

The factory amp creates the sub output from the rear channel inputs (HU Outs). I’m sure that you have already found out that the HU outputs are balanced and that a balanced amp like the JL will work. The problem you have is that you would have to find a way to tap the rear channels between the HU and amp and feed both the JL and factory amp. This will not work because you will double terminate the balanced line and produce a lot of noise. Also, as I posted before, you can’t just cut splice and solder RCAs onto the factory wires without causing noise.
If you just want to add a sub then tap the rear speakers or rear deck 6x9s, you don’t need a LOC with the JL amp.
If you want to improve the SQ then replace the factory amp with an aftermarket and do the speakers as well.

What else is needed to replace the factory amp? How does the OEM head unit connect to an aftermarket amp?

Do the H/U outputs connect directly to the balanced differential inputs on the JL slash amps? Is anything else needed?

I could replace the factory amp with a JL Audio 300/4 if it is as simple as plugging it in.

Am I missing something?

I'm in the same boat as you Aamir. I've probably read about 30 different threads trying to figure this out but maybe i'm too much of a noob to understand what is going on. I basically want to keep the stock navi in my 05 tsx and somehow feed the signal from either the HU or the stock amp to a 5 channel JL amp to power 4 speakers and a sub.
I cant figure out if i need an LOC or processor or mercman harness (which i understand Jeff doesnt do anymore) or what. If anyone could point me in the right direction- it would be very much appreciated. Thanks,
