If you really want to turn off XM, you need to remove the harness from the XM unit in the trunk, its behind the trunk liner on the passenger side.

there was a tsb on this.. you can bring ur car into the dealer and have your xm unit replaced.. me and reach have done it. =) your ipod will work fine.. the exact words from the tsb are like:
when using any ipod adapter.. and starting the car when it was left in ipod mode. xm will overplay.. the dealer will replace ur xm unit and give u a new one with ur same subscription....
take it to ur dealer and ask them to look up the tsb.. its like 0069 or somethign here let me check.

And, unplugging the aux cable alone does not disable the XM unit. You need to unplug the XM module itself to remove it as an input from your headunit
Also, review This Thread on the Neo Prolink... and how it doesn't work as advertised anyway. (yet.)
