Homemade CDs
Homemade CDs
Picked up my new TSX yesterday and as I'm getting to drive off the lot, my salesman notices I have two homemade CDs. He says not to use them as there has been a lot of trouble with sticking CDs and it will not be covered under warranty if it screws up. Any comments? Anyone playing their homemade CDs. Mine are not the RW.
Thanks in advance.

Which dealer told you this? I bought mine in coquitlam and they mentioned nothing of the sort. They did tell me though, when switching discs or loading new ones, not to press any buttons on the controls until the cd player has finished it's business, otherwise it may jam. Kind of a crappy design I think, but anyhow.. point is, I have been using pretty much only CDR's in my TSX, and I have never had a problem.... I have had the car for about 6 months now. Enjoy your new car bud!
Thanks, got the car from Lougheed Acura. I've only spent a few minutes looking in the owners manual, but I seem to remember something about CDR and CDRW in there. I'll have another look.
I think you'll be fine using home burned CDs. The problem resides with the stick-on CD labels. The changer has been known to jam if the lables detach from the CDs. I just burned an extra copy of my CDs and labeled them with a permanent marker directly on the plastic. As long as your CDs don't have stick-on labels you'll be fine.

That's why I now use the underground secret labelling....Sharpie.

Labels are bad in general. A 52x CD-ROM spins at 10,000 rpm, which means even slight off-centre labels will unbalance the disc.
John in BC, tell your dealer to RTFM (p.136).
