I want to swap out speakers, so what do I do about the "custom Bose" EQ settings, since I am keeping the headunit and I know they can throw off the highs and mids in new speakers? Also, will the amp be OK for Infinity Kappas 63.5I speakers in all four doors? I don't want them to be louder necessarily, just clearer.

 

Well I just put a system in my car installed by car toys. I was going to throw in my focal components but since I wasnt putting an aftermarket head unit in they told me I need to buy an amp, b/c the bose stereo had seperate small amps on each indivudal speakers. So for now all I have done is added one 12 alpine type R and a MTX 6500D mono amp. This is just until I have enough money to buy a 4 channel amp screen and dvd player.

 

Search the forums, I can't remember the post but there have been big posts about bypassing the stock eq and still having everything working ok. note - I remember (could be wrong) it being a huge pain in the a55. I think there's also the terminator mod (think thats the right name, its just a resistor) when dealing with the polk dx6s, so search for that too.

If I took it in to Car Toys, would they know to do that or just force me to get a whole new HU all together? From those posts it doesn't look like I could do it myself...
