Help with Metra Kit and Alpine 9835

I just put my system together and the alpine deck sits in about 1/2 inch from the from of the Metra kit? What's up with that. Any suggestions?

post a picture. the metra is generally held in high regard for quality. Any chance you put the two side piece on the wrong place ( i mean the wrong screw holes)?

I didn't screw anything in, the deck slides into the DIN sized hole. I tried to use the supplied Trim Plate, but that didn't work either. Here is the pic from the side and one from the front (plus stay in the album to see the rest of my system):

I saw a thread with another Alpine deck using the supplied trim ring, so I know it is supposed to sit right.

Hmmm, strange. So, you used the plastic side clips that came with the kit? And you didn't have screw holes to bring it out a little? (And when you attached them to the radio, they supported it from the bottom, right?)

The trim ring that I see in the pictures, is that seperate from the Alpine, or part of it? The HU looks good at that depth, but the trim ring seems too far back--so I'm wondering if there's any way to bring it forward...

I didn't use the little side pieces. They won't go in the DIN slot with the Deck, it's too wide.

Oh. Seems like a lot of people here have Alpines, maybe we can get one of them to reply.

Anybody?

that ring thats attached to the front of the head unit, take it off. it snaps off

then attach the brackets to the headunit, making the unit flush with the face.

snap in the trim ring that came with the kit, to cover the gap

I have the same deck... mine sits alittle back but not as noticable as yours. Alpine decks on other brands.

You might want to double check which holes you screwed the screws into.

Good Luck
