Help me choose a sub...for me

My amp has the following stats:
RMS Power Output: 90W x 2 @ 2 Ohm
Peak Power Output: 180W x 2 @ 2 Ohm
Birdged Output: 400W x 1 @ 4 Ohm

I need to find a good sub to match
I want as small a box as possible
should I go with one 8's, 10's, or 12's?
2 subs or 1?
I listen mostly to bass heavy music (rap, reggae) but I still want clean bass
I want to spend under $100 (for just the sub)

Heres some subs around $100 to 135

Elemental design kv 10" 12"
JL 12w3v2
Alpine Type R or S

If you want as small as posible and listen to bass heavy music, I'd get the Alumapro BP-8. Reviewed really well in CA&E, small, LOTS of bass.

If I were you, I would get another amp. Not about the money but the RMS the DUAL is giving out isnt all that much IMO. On top of that, you wouldnt want to burn the amp, trying to supply enough power to the sub where the amp in the first place cant. I would atleast get a better amp and like a sub that either will be the same brand as the amp, or a sub perfectly suitable for the amp. Also remember that if you want to feel bass, that AMP isnt going to help all that much. If you want, I'll do a little look up for you for a good combination. Good Luck

P:S Dont go for a setup that in the future you will regret and want to change.. Save time and do everything all at once.. BTW, you live in West Palm FL? Live in Broward, I'll help you install whenever. Let me Know

I hear what you're saying. It was in my neighbors car with some cheap subs, and it sounded decent. I don't need anything earth shattering, so I figured that would be fine for me. I figured if it sounded OK with cheap subs, it'll be more than sufficient if I used it with some quality subs. But I sure as hell don't want anything burning up back there. Maybe I can use the amp to power some components?

I'm in Broward all the time. When the time comes for the install I'll definetely hit you up.

Yea, NP man, hit me up whenever.. That AMP you can use to power aftermarket speakers. But to do that you have to change the headunit with the speakers. Bose headunit gone = speakers going with it too. BIG PROCESS!.. Save money, and get a little nice Pioneer system.

I already got my Alpine HU in there, but everything else is stock. I don't know about your TL, but for the 2nd gen CL, you don't have to change the speakers when you change the HU, probably because the amp is in the trunk vs an amp to every speaker, but don't quote me on that.

I'm really leaning towards the Alpine Type R, but it seems to be an SPL sub, but I'd prefer an SQ application. I read somewhere that the type of box I use with it could make it more of an SQ sub.

Thoughts?

(by the way, I'm leaning towards a 10 inch rather than a 12 inch)

yeah, the box will make or break a setup, if you want SQ go with just a plain sealed box
