Help from the experts please...
Allo,
I have an 2003 TL-S. All of the audio is stock except for the bass. For that I have 2 MTX 6000 (12") powered by an MTX 4240D (250 watts).
It finally happened yesterday... It just wasn't loud enough *sigh*
My first question is can you just upgrade the HU? I tried that on my Accord and while it did "work" it sounded like ass. Should I get a new HU + a 4 channel amp and leave the speakers? Or do I need to do it all? I'm sure the more I spend the better it can be, BUT is it worth it to JUST upgrade the speakers? Just upgrade the HU?
Thanks,
Joe

OK, here's a couple of things:
1) I agree with optomos - to sound better, you need better F speakers AND more power to those speakers than you will get from the OEM HU (or ANY hu, IMO).
2) While I sell speaker upgrade kits, I would not recommend my kit as keeping up with 2 12" subs : )
One option is adding a 2-channel amp and a F component set, running both the sub amp and the new amp of of the HU output to the OEM amp (bypassing the OEM amp entirely and the Bose EQ if you have one).
Another option is to do the above with a 4-channel amp and F and R speakers.
The third is to get a new HU too (but it still won't have enough power to get *good* speakers and make them sound good).
You have obviously done a ton of mods to the car - do you have a budget for this project? I know that at our shop we would estimate about $600 installed for the first option with a good amp and good F comps (a/d/s/ or DLS comps and a DLS 100W amp). About $450 of that is gear.
