head unit and climate control display and clock dissapeared??

riding along in the tsx, put a jay z cd in the radio and i notice music hasn't started playing so i look down and my radio and a/c displays are both blank. the radio didn't want to power on at all, and a/c works fine except i cant see anythign on the display. i put in the code on the radio as a desperate attempt (you think of some crazy shit on long drives with no radio) and now my radio works as well, but no display? any one heard of this or had a similar problem? any and all help will be appreciated. thinking of swapping out head unit anyways but would love to be able to see a/c again?

What year of TSX? There is a brand new TSB relating to older TSXs (04/05 I believe) and having the lights on your center console stack go out, but I thought that was only around the buttons, not the actual display screens too.

Check fuses, but if the problem persists, this might warrant a trip to the dealer.

the tsx is an 04 with 52,000 miles.....i checked all fuses and they are good....i'm getting power to both radio and a/c, they both work fine, except that i can't see what i'm doing.....would this type of problem be covered by the dealer even though i dont have warranty anymore? i have no lights in the diplays, the buttons, or the clock!

Yes, the center console warranty was extended to 70,000 miles due to the number of failures on early models. This is going to be a dealer issue either way, if I were you I would already be headed there.

Head over to the TSX forum and search. This is well documented and is all covered by an extended warranty.

TSB to the rescue!!! I had the same problem, but mine was at 40000 miles - dealer even "blinked" at my modifications - main reason I will be purchasing another Acura in the future - they didn't hassle me at all.

Just had that happen to my 04 as well. Dealer said there's a faulty control panel on the back that shorts out. Fix is to replace the entire head unit.

Actually with the new fix that just came out, they dont replace the entire head unit. They pull it out, replace something, and put it back. Unfortunately it takes alot longer.

Have you tried pressing and holding the AUX button? It's an undocumented feature that turns on and off the displays for the radio and climate control.
