having a problem with my subs blowing

I have a '02 TL-S w/navi, I had a set of JL W3's installed and every two weeks they have blown, one time the amp shorted out, and one time they stopped going past a certain problem. I think all together they have put in 2 amps and 14 subs, I am convinced there is something not working right with the car and they just keep trying to fix it and failing and don't want to admit it. So I guess I just want to get some feedback from you guys on what it might be and what you would do in this situation. Thanks

Onlong with the extra juice, it gives it more steady flow of power, sorta of like a miniture surge protector. But since u do have on, its got to be a bad install. Whats the setting u have on your amp?

Wow, JL is pretty hard to get blown unless you really crank it up all the way past its limits...if you blow it without cranking it up, your installation is majorly screwed.

I had the same problem w/ my RFs, i blew like 20 of them before i figured out that i should be breaking in the subs, try running them at half power for like a day or so and then go ahead and crank them they should be ok

every time I broke them in for about a week just to see if that was it, I went to another place and had them look at them and they think the cutom enclosure isnt letting the subs breathe enough

Well is it a sealed or ported box? Is it the correct air space for the subs? Are they wired properly for the amp(4ohm, 2ohm....)? Most stereo shops have to pay for the defective item to be shipped back to the factory, so if the shop you bought your subs from sent back 14 subs at 20lbs a peice thats a pretty penny. I'm sure they would try to fix the problem, unless they are trying to get rid of old stock to get in the new stock.

fixed it

It was the space, I switched from two JL 12W3's to one JLW6 v2 and it works perfect, Also I had to turn it around for some more extra breathing room, I highly suggest one very good 12 over 2 good 12's. It is a sealed box

Glad you fixed it, I think that two good subs in a properly built box with the correct air space, is better than one really good sub. Just my opinon.
