Have searched, need advice

I am looking to make a clean-looking install for a portable GPS - specifically the tomtom one. I'd love to have the advice of folks here who have mounted other devices (iPod, XM, Scan tools, V1s).

Situation: 01 CLS (SSM/ebony)
--I'd like to mount it high (near top of dash) but within easy arms-reach.
--I can get a cradle (pro-clip/ram), but I need the next step which is attaching the cradle to the dash.
--I already have a proclip to the right of my stereo (iPod) so that spot is taken
(note: I don't believe another device can share that holder - it would interfere with the radio controls)
--I'm considering hard wiring the cradle
--Must be completely reversible (no drilling of holes in dash or panels)
--I would like the installation to draw minimal attention when the tomtom one is removed

Thoughts I have had:

--Least desirable --> vent mount on the center of the dash (above climate control)
--Custom-made base (pro-clip integrated) near the driver's side A-pillar forward of the side-window defog vent.
--Custom-made mount attached to side-window defog vent (or replacing the vent)

If you have pix of slick installs for electronic devices near the top of the dash in any car - could you post them up? I'm looking for ideas.
