Has anyone heard, or even seen a new JL W6??????
I have seen them but not heard them...I am thinking about looking at getting one...i would like to hear it first. I think a place here told me when they get a 10 they are going to put it in a box and let people demo it in cars...well at least mine. I just have to get the rest of the shit installed and then I can see.
W6
It looks just like the W7! Lovely chrome finishing, awesome to show off in a plexiglass rear box. Here is a link:

The 12" should be shipping already so if there is a Sound Advice near you they should be the first to have it. I think the 10" should be shipping by the end of June if not already, too.
For the ten inch a good 1 cubic foot will be needed but at least 400Watt maximum is not that much to run a subwoofer.
I say go listen and tell us what you think

what i meant was
I live in Florida and although the 10inch may be shipping I have not seen it actually "arriving" at any local stores and being placed on shelves so to speak. Being that I was at Sound Advice just last week and the W6.2 not being there I figured that they must not be shipped quite yet. (Sound Advice is supposedly the single most largest vendor of JL Audio equipment.)
Versus the W7, a "maximum" of 400 watts continuous is all that would be needed, going beyond 400 watts would be unneccessary and over time would cause distortion and/or damage to the sub. So if a 400 watt rms amplifier was already owned then you would be in good shape.
Any how, I hope that the W6.2 are just as good as their conterpart and if so than maybe a single 10 inch will be all you need. Just keep in mind that the box reflects a lot of what the speaker can do. I would suggest that if you went with 10 inch that the FULL 1 CUBIC FOOT of airspace is used in order to create that lower bass that would be usually seen in a 12 inch sub.
Any other comments or questions or mistakes that need to be pointed out can be directly PM to me personally.

I wanst trying to correct you...I guess I mis-understood what you typed...i would also go with 1cft on the 10" and a max of 400w RMS is right...I have the 500/1 that I will hook up to what ever I get so ill bet it will match just right to a w6. They are shipping...I have held one in my gredy little paws. Mobile1 here in New Orleans had a stack of them but non in a box to demo...I can gett he # if you like
. They look good I have seen both the 10 and the 12 so they are out...but the place I usualy go to hasnt gotton them yet and once they do they will hook it up so i can hear it
I would like a 12 but a 10 would fit just right and not block the pass through. I sometimes open it to let a lil more bass through

So I went to Mobill1 last night and looked at the w6's and they had a 12 in a ported box that I could hear. It was not in a sound room, just out in on the floor...didnt sound that bad but I am sure it would much better in a room or a trunk. They didnt have that much power going to it I dont think...it was a MTX like a 6500 or something like that. I dont know the power output of it but it looked small. I think I might go with the 10 in a sealed box on my JL500/1. Once I start the install and get a chance to listen to it in a car I will let you know more.

Do let me know when this happens because I will probably be getting the 10w6 unless I hear it and it sucks in the trunk

Anywhoo, the JL W7 is mostly for competition use, and doesnt have very much sound quality at lower imputs. My personal opinion on JL is that is sucks(sorry owners) and that if you want real sound quality at least go with IDMax. If you guys really want to get technical about subs come to the car audio chat, im always in there blabbing about something. My screen name is DorianX24. feel free to im me if you got any questions that need direct attention. Later peeps.
opinion
Everyone is entitled to an opinion and you obviously believe there must be only one good sub: the IDMAX. Unfortunately only one can be at the top of the list and it may very well be the IDMAX. However there are alwasys 2nd, 3rd and last. If JL AUdio subs are no good than what would you place as the next variable to the IDMAX. Each JL series has its own variable uses, for example, small enclosure, no enclosure, competition, etc. Each sub may be ideal for a different application. W6.2 in particular are made for small enclosures and was the sub that this whole thread is pertained upon. Yes, you are correct the JL W7 is a competition style sub and is often compared to the IDMAX and there have been several long forum discussions on which one is better (a search on either name will bring up several threads). So we are left here with your opinion that JL audio sucks and no new info on the W6.2! Thanks for your help and opinion.
Re: opinion
The JL W7 took 10 years to come out with a working model. Despite any hatred I have for JL, they really are a over priced, and over rated sub. The new W6v.2 is a direct copy of the w7, exept it has less spiders, meaning that it handles a little less power, and should have better sound quality. The ID max is a very nice sub. However there is no best. I have Digital Designs subs wich are studio woofers made into monsters. The best part is they were 400 a peice, and are about 100x better than any JL. There is tons of companys on top of JL, sq wise and $ wise. Look for companys like: Beyond Audio, DD, ID, Adire, and even Kicker. I dont want to bash JL, they just dont do well in the audio business with the real pro guys.

Agreed....all those IASCA wins and consistent placings must be luck.
"and even Kicker."

God forbid anyone EVER say anything bad about JL.
I think Austin is really a rep for JL and is afraid to come out of the closet.

Actually my problem with what he said was this "they just dont do well in the audio business with the real pro guys"...which is total BS. That and I was personally insulted that he placed Kicker over JL
