UR6s

Iridium 6.2

Comparing the two

They finally came after there was a little setback with the company I ordered from. I'll install them hopefully by the end of the weekend and give feedback. The Iridium crossovers are about 4 times the weight of the UR6s. These are some quality made speakers. Don't mind some of the blurryness and lack of light, I was too anxious to use a tripod or adjust my settings. Enjoy!

Congrats!

Words of advice:

DLS speakers take some time to break in just like the manual says!

Set the tweeter xovers to LOW output. In the TSX that's the best.

The tweeters will smooth out about 80% in an hour or so. The mids won't smooth out until after 8-10 hours of music. This is normal. It's hard not to judge right away, but resist : )

They will also get louder on the mids during that break-in time - this changes the character of the sound a lot. This is not like a motor - you CAN turn it up before break-in is complete, just don't expect them to sound right yet.

Oh, and you CAN wrap the tweets in gray grille cloth for a more OEM look... : ) But that grille helps the open sound of the tweets.

I only got around to installing the fronts (Iridiums) this past weekend since it was Father's day and all. Damn these things are loud and clear!

I had to temporarily mount the tweeters to the dash using the swivel brackets, so it doesn't sound quite right. I still have to dynamat the doors and install the rears, so I guess it'll be a few weeks before everything is 100% complete.

so far so good, though.
