ground wire

i got a question that i'm sure has a simple answer

whenever you hook up a system, each component of it has to be hooked up to the ground. what is this?? is it just hooking up a wire to any part of the chassis? i have a 02tl-s, are there specific ground points?

also, what the hell does this do? what's the point of it?

last - how do i connect the wire to the ground?

thanks for any info...

when hooking up an amplifier.. [im assuming thats what you are doing], you can just ground anywhere in the trunk.. what i did was i grounded my amp around the aera where my spare tire was.. i took some sand paper to clean the surface. correct me if im wrong but when you have the power wire connected to the positive terminal of the battery the ground wire sends the outgoing power to the negative terminal.

<----- pts for me

The purpose of the ground is to complete the circuit persay.

Make sure you ground to bare metal, scrape the paint if necessary. You also want the ground wire to be as short as possible.

Use a gold plated terminal to connect to a bolt on the chasis.

That's kind of scary, that you don't know and you will be installing it yourself. You must run a power cable from the positive terminal of your battery to your amp in the trunk.

thas hysterical lol. but yea im assuming your doing a amp/sub install. just do a search for a more detailed anser but in essence.

a power FUSED wire from the battery to the rear of the trunk that attaches to the amp's positive

a ground wire that attaches the amp to somewhere in the trunk, bare chasis is fine.

remote ground wire from the amp to the headunit

rca's from the amp to the headunit.

pretty easy
