What car is this for?
If its the TSX, then you may want to read mercman's info in the main sticky thread. if the aftermarket hu outputs are unbalanced instead of balanced, then connecting to the stock amp could cause problems.

I'm not sure about the tl system. A GLI would likely help your noise though...

You need to add the ground loop isolator in line with the AUX IN adapter. Most GLI's have RCA in and out. Just unplug your RCA's at the AUX IN and plug your GLI in line.

thanks that cleared it up a bit. still not 100% sure tho because when i purchased it from radio shack i was told that 1 end was attached to the HU and the other was attached to the amp. on the GLI that i received there are 2 sides and both have rca male plugs. on the packaging it says that an 1/8" y adapter is included but it was not. not that big of a deal i guess but it just confused me a bit. heres the packaging. it says to use the amp but i guess i can disreguard it?

You should have 2 sets of RCA jacks. 1 at the source (head unit) and 1 at the destination (amp). This goes between them. Don't over-complicate it.

your instructions conflict with uncald4's. you mean i should have 2 sets of rca female jacks. 1 at the head unit and 1 at the amp? well im using the stock amp so im not sure if it has rca female jacks. i know the GLI has 2 sets of male jacks if thats what youre talking aobut. but i dont know where they go into.

so get gender benders or splice the wires directly if you need to. uncald4's instructions are right, and mirror what you posted.

Curious, why are you using an aftermarket headunit and the OEM amp? Presumable the aftermarket head unit has a decent amp already in it.

well i didnt think i needed to use the aftermarket amp. but people told me that i did if i wanted to use the GLI. ok lets clear some confusion. i have alternator noise when using the aux in on my aftermarket HU. i was told by someone to get a GLI and it will get rid of it the noise. when asking how to install it, i was told i have to connect it to the amp somehow. this is where im confused. so i think i do need the GLI but i dont need the stock amp? now back to square 1. then how do i install the GLI. where does the other end go to? my conclusion: 1 end to the aux in of HU and the other side use couplers to make the female. use rca to 1/8" adapter. plug in ipod. correct?

oh! Install the GLI between your aux input and your playing device.

Hypothetically, if your aux input device is a satelite radio unit, it would be like this:
Sat Radio Output -> GLI -> Head Unit

Hope that clears it up.
